Dos Bocas, Mexico

Puerto de Dos Bocas, as the port is officially known, is the largest and most important industrial port in Mexico, handling a staggering 85% of all imported and exported petroleum products. Brand new to tourism and in alliance with the ports of Veracruz and Progreso to bring guests to the burgeoning "Gulf Route", Dos Bocas was voted "Best Cruise Ship Welcome in 2009" by the cruising media and is experiencing an exciting economic boom. Visitors may find the actual port too industrial for exploration, but worth a visit are the colorful colonial town of Paraiso and the historic Tabasco state capital city of Villahermosa. Dos Bocas is a gateway to ancient ruins, fascinating free-trade cocoa plantations, nature reserves and charming cities. Dos Bocas shows us that Tabasco is a blend of a new modern Mexico still embracing its ancient arts and traditions.
